Linking words and phrases.(=linkers) - Слова - связки.

Слова - связки нельзя отнести к определённой части речи, так как словом-связкой может быть союз, наречие, предлог, частица и т.д. Но основная функция этих слов заключается в том, что они придают нашим высказываниям логически завершённую форму.

• meanwhile [ˌmiːn'waɪl] - тем временем, между тем
• apparently [ə'pær(ə)ntlɪ] - по-видимому, очевидно, несомненно
• by the way - кстати, между прочим, к слову сказать
• that is why - поэтому
• If I am not misaken, … - Если я не ошибаюсь, …

• on the one hand/on the other hand - с одной стороны / с другой стороны (в переносном смысле) on the one (or the other) hand
• on the one side / on the other side - с одной стороны / на другой стороне (буквально, для предметов)

Sentence connectors are used to link ideas from one sentence to the next and to give paragraphs coherence. Sentence connectors perform different functions and are placed at the beginning of a sentence.
